Virgin Guest Services - ASU pushing for reform and flexibility

On Wednesday, 26 July, the ASU met with Virgin Australia to discuss the important reforms in Guest Services.

One of the major concerns is significant concerns about on-the-job training. It has become evident that there is widespread confusion about who is responsible for providing training and support. Many members experience a mix of being rostered as “buddies,” mentors, peer support, and line trainers without clear guidelines on when each applies. This ambiguity, especially concerning the buddy system, which was supposed to cease on 15 April 2024, may be resulting in incorrect allowance applications. We are urgently working with Virgin Australia to resolve this confusion and ensure the correct application of the Enterprise Agreement. We aim to secure clarity and fairness in training responsibilities and allowances.
