Fraser Coast Regional Council Strike Action

It’s time for members of The Services Union at Fraser Coast Regional Council to stand up for the pay rise you deserve! The Council needs to come up with a pay increase that recognises your dedicated service, and our Union is by your side to ensure this happens.

Your Workplace Delegates and Organisers are convening a stop-work meeting outside Council Chambers at 2pm Friday 19 April and request that all members attend. We will be joined by our outdoor union colleagues, and will start assembling at 1.30pm.

All unions have agreed to take industrial (strike) action together this Friday 19 April. There will be an all-Union rally taking place outside Council Chambers at Tavistock Street from 2pm.

NOTE: Members taking industrial action that are based in Maryborough would have to stop work at 1pm to make it along in time for a 2pm rally in Tavistock Street, Hervey Bay. Use of work vehicles will not be permitted by Council.

This is your chance to stand with your colleagues and call upon Council to provide a wage offer that fairly reflects your work output and commitment to the community.

No member should feel obliged to inform management in advance of their decision to stop work. If a manager or supervisor asks you between now and this Friday whether you are intending on stopping work, you are within your rights to say “the union will notify you as required”.

Only members of The Services Union can participate in protected industrial action. Everyone benefits from our Unions work at Fraser Coast Council, so If you work with someone who is not yet a member, forward this email and ask them to join online.

If you have any questions, please contact one of your local delegates or [email protected].
