Gold Medal for TRC

The view of The Services Union is that everyone at Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is critical to the efficient running of the Council. Sadly, the Council doesn’t seem to share our view. That’s why our Union will be by your side for as long as it takes to bring your wages from being dead last out of thirteen other Cat 2 Councils. The odds are stacked against you when employed under the Stream A (Office Based) Agreement (CA) at TRC due to the low wages, Gender Pay Gap and relativities (explained here).

If you were or are trade qualified and employed under the Field Based CA, your first-year increase is over 20% and similar for each year of their proposed agreement.  Did you know that?

It’s for the reasons above why members rallied again on Wednesday despite only being notified mid-afternoon the previous day.

Our delegates would like to thank you again for your support and participation. You should be proud of your efforts. The sacrifices you’re making are critical to the negotiations, and to ensure our value is recognised.

Outcomes from Rally

Members voted unanimously for the CEO to meet with our delegates and organiser so he can hear direct why our members have resorted to industrial action. We have reached out to the CEO requesting a MEETING and will provide you with an update as to when this happens.

Members also voted unanimously to hold another rally soon.

Next Steps
  1. Meeting with the CEO.
  2. The Strike Committee are already working on making the next rally bigger and more exciting and will finalise details soon..
What Can You Do?

  • Join our Strike Committee by emailing [email protected]
  • Share your experience of the rallies with your colleagues and ask them to stand with you for the next one.
Remember, a Union is a group of workers coming together to change something they can’t do by themselves. To continue making your Union stronger remember to remind your colleagues how is easy it is to join online.
