Toowoomba Regional Council -It's time to show your value!

Members of The Services Union at Toowoomba Regional Council know the importance of achieving acceptable bargaining outcomes. Off the back of four years of cost-of-living chaos, getting it right at the bargaining table has never been more important. The Council is focused on having you compare its current proposal of 6%, 5% and 4% with previous wage outcomes at your Council as opposed to providing you with an increase that brings you from the lowest paid Council to mid-range.

As a reminder, click here to see how your wages compare to other Councils . It’s a similar story irrespective of what level you’re at. This is just another reason why the Council is unable to retain or attract employees.

At report back meetings last week, members sent a clear message that we should continue to push for an extra increment at the top of each level and the following wage outcomes for the new agreement.

Year One - 8%
Year Two - 6%
Year Three - 5%

We had productive discussions with the Council last Friday where we reiterated our position on wages and consolidated a number of claims, and we look forward to further discussions to get an agreement that you deserve.  As your agreement expires THIS WEDNESDAY it is important we continue building on the momentum that has been occurring within our membership.

The best chance our members have of achieving a suitable and reasonable wages outcome is a short, sharp shock of Protected Industrial Action. Therefore, you are hereby notified that The Services Union will conduct a ballot of all members at Toowoomba Regional Council to determine whether to endorse protected industrial action in support of an acceptable pay offer.

Members will be able to vote electronically, and we encourage you to do so. The ballot will open at 9:00am on Monday 24 June 2024 and will remain open until 5:00pm on Thursday 27
June 2024.

We will send you a link to access the electronic ballot prior to the opening time noted above.

Please print this notice and distribute within your work group. Please be advised that only members of The Services Union will be able to vote, and only members of The Services Union will be able to participate in any resulting protected industrial action. If you work with someone who is not yet a member but wants to vote or participate, remind them that joining is easy online.
