Protecting your interests in Qantas Super's merger

We want to inform you about a significant development regarding Qantas Super.

Qantas Super has announced its decision to merge with Australian Retirement Trust. Please note that if you are a member of an alternative superannuation fund, this merger does not impact you.

We understand the importance of superannuation for our members, and the ASU is dedicated to ensuring that your interests are fully protected. To achieve this, we will be meeting with Qantas Super and its CEO to discuss the following:

1. Clear Communication: Establishing a transparent process to keep you informed at every step.

2. Proper Consultation: Ensuring that your views are represented and considered throughout the merger process.

3. Protection of Entitlements: Confirming that your superannuation entitlements remain secure and unchanged.

Qantas Super has assured us in writing that members in defined benefit divisions will transfer to Australian Retirement Trust with equivalent rights to their current benefits. This means:

  • Continued Support: Your employer will still be required to support and fund your benefits in Australian Retirement Trust, just as they do with Qantas Super.
  • No Change in Benefits Calculation: The formula for calculating defined benefits will remain the same.
  • Commitment from Qantas Group: Qantas Group remains committed to fully funding its superannuation commitments for all employees.
It is important that you receive independent financial advice when considering superannuation and retirement options. Independent advice will help you make informed decisions about your financial future.

We are here to support you and ensure your superannuation entitlements are protected. The ASU is committed to advocating for your best interests during this transition, as your financial security and peace of mind are our top priorities.

If you are not already a member, now is the time to join.
