Early progress at Gladstone Regional Council negotiations

The Services Union met with Gladstone Regional Council yesterday to continue discussions regarding your new Certified Agreement (CA).

The talks covered a wide range of claims that had been brought to the table and good progress was made, particularly considering this is only the second bargain meeting.

Most notably Council were able to set out their position regarding a pay offer, and they have proposed a 15% deal over a 3-year period.  This offer is exclusive of the proposed changes to their log of claims which they shared at our previous meeting (which included a reduction in working time without loss of pay to 36.25hrs).

Council have shown a willingness to accept our claim on doubling the time required to attend funerals of past Council employees.

Watch this space as we will be organising an all member in person meeting to discuss the above.

As previously written, nothing has been agreed and it is up to members to decide the direction of this bargain. Remind any of your colleagues not in the Union that if they also want a say they should join the Union – Joining is easy online.

Our Union will be returning to the bargaining table on Tuesday 16 July to continue discussions around your wages and conditions.
