Tick Tock...it's about time at QR

The Services Union has written to Queensland Rail’s Senior Manager Employee Relations regarding concerns raised by our members and delegates that QR is not meeting the Station Operations EA 2023, Schedule 2 Rostering Principles.

We believe that our Station members have been more then patient with Queensland Rail given our Agreement was ratified in January this year!

Unfortunately, Queensland Rail has seemed to only want to pick and chooses what parts of Schedule 2 – Rostering principles it wishes to implement, with QR Managers happy to implement sections that suit them and happy to tell our delegates that it may be able to fully comply with Schedule 2 hopefully by the end of this year.

Our Union has reminded Queensland Rail it is obliged to comply with these principles and should have commenced complying with them within seven (7) days of the approval of the Agreement.

Our members have been patient with Queensland Rail and a very vague deadline of maybe the end of the year to resolve these issues is not good enough. On this basis, we requested that Queensland Rail provide our Union with an undertaking that it will ensure compliance with the Schedule and the principles contained within by no later than 1 July 2024.

Without significant steps being taken to address this matter as a priority, our Union will be lodging a dispute and escalating the matter as far as it is necessary to have the issues resolved.

Given Queensland Rail chose to commence a major consultative process for the BOM redesign that will impact our members master rosters and work locations, it is disappointing that senior management are focussing on that when they should of first been focused on meeting their commitments in Schedule 2 of the Queensland Rail Station Operations Enterprise Agreement 2023!

Members voted overwhelmingly for this EA and as such The Services Union will ensure Queensland Rail understands it has obligations, as such our Senior Industrial Officer, Ben Ellis, and Lead Organiser, Ben Jones, will be meeting with Senior Management next week to discuss this matter and we will provide a further update next week.

The Services Union will always be by your side, if you know someone who is not yet a member of our Union and wants fair rostering in Station please send them this email so they can join here.
